How do you write a Reflective Essay on a poem.?

We Answered:

There is no standard formula for what goes into each paragraph.

A reflective essay is an essay. That means it has to have one central opinion. Your teacher may call that a thesis statement or thesis sentence. The thesis sums up your opinion in a single sentence.

In a reflective essay, the thesis is typically about
--how you respond to the poem
--how the poem relates to your personal experience
--how the poem relates to something you have personally observed.

Suppose you read a poem about someone's death. Your reaction might be "The poem made me feel the sadness I felt when my grandfather died."

Each of your body paragraphs would discuss a reason that the poem created that feeling. For example, one paragraph might have this topic sentence:

"The poem made me feel the sadness I felt when my grandfather died because the poet used concrete images of a funeral."

You'd follow that formula until you have given the reader a sense of why you feel about the poem as you do.

Is free will a good topic for a reflective essay?

We Answered:

(only because there's SO much you could say about it)

But It's a great topic!!

Good luck! :)
