Now, try to summarize your essay in one sentence. Yes, that is what the thesis is, but just take a few seconds to write a quick summary. Don't worry about it being nicley written.

Now, revise this sentence with more sophisticated words and there you go!

Here are a few examples of some I've written for essays:

- Dangerous hypocritical claims of being a good-hearted person is a reoccurring theme carried throughout the play.
- Arthur Miller’s play, "The Crucible", deals with the many disputes and the continuous motif of “breaking charity.”
- It started as a craze built from the basis of an inspiring novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The Scarlet Letter led to the creation of additional prose on the topic. THESIS: One in particular, "Who Killed Arthur Dimmesdale?", leaves readers wondering if Perry Turner’s theory is possible.

I am unemployed and desperate to support my family of a husband and three kids. I apply for a janitor's job at a large firm and easily pass an aptitude test.

The human resources manager tells me, "You will be hired at minimum wage of $5.35 an hour. Let me have your e-mail address so that we can get you in the loop. Our system will automatically e-mail you all the forms and advise you when to start and where report on your first day"

Taken aback, I protest that I am is poor and has neither a computer nor an e-mail address.

To this the manager replies, "You must understand that to a company like ours that means that you virtually do not exist. Without an e-mail address you can hardly expect to be employed by a High-tech firm. Good day."

Stunned, I leave. Not knowing where to turn and having $10 in my wallet, I walk past a farmers' market and see a stand selling 25lb. Crates of beautiful red tomatoes. I buy a crate, carry it to a busy corner and display the tomatoes. In less than 2 hours I sell all the tomatoes and make 100% profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, I end up with almost $100 and arrive home that night with several bags of groceries for my family.

During the night I decide to repeat the tomato business the next day.

By the end of the week I am getting up early every day and working into the night. I multiply my profits quickly.

Early in the second week I acquire a cart to transport several boxes of tomatoes at a time, but before a month is up I sell the cart to buy a broken-down pickup truck.

At the end of a year I own three old trucks. My two sons have left their neighborhood gangs to help him with the tomato business, my husband is buying the tomatoes, and my daughter is taking night courses at the community college so she can keep books for her.

By the end of the second year I have a dozen very nice used trucks and employs fifteen previously unemployed people, all selling tomatoes.

I continue to work hard.

Time passes and at the end of the fifth year I own a fleet of nice trucks and a warehouse that my husband supervises, plus two tomato farms that the boys manage. The Tomato Company’s payroll has put hundreds of homeless and jobless people to work. My daughter reports that the business grossed over one million dollars.

Planning for the future, I decide to buy some life insurance. Consulting with an insurance adviser, I pick an insurance plan to fit his new circumstances. Then the adviser asks me for my e-mail address in order to send the final documents electronically.

When I reply that I don't have time to mess with a computer and have no e-mail address, the insurance man is stunned, "What, you don't have e-mail? No computer? No Internet? Just think where you would be today if you'd had all of that five years ago!"

"Ha!"

"If I'd had e-mail five years ago I would be sweeping floors at Microsoft and making $5.35 an hour"

Every essay needs a thesis statement even if it doesn't seem to be one. I think your sentence you just privided would be fine. It covers what your saying and thats basically what thesis statements do. I would say go ahead and use it, then ask a teacher, or someone else to look at it and see if its okay. From what your saying though, it sounds perfectly fine. When your talking about yourself in an essay, and not a book or a scene in a play, the thesis doesn't need to be drawn out and detailed. Yours sounds good.

Pierre Eliot Trudeau was able to unify Canada through the implementation of the Official Languages Act, the implementation of the War Measures Act during the October Crisis and his devoted efforts against separatism during the Quebec referendum.
