this is fairly easy because it is a short essay; usually no more than 3 paragraphs. talk about how you manage your time- wake up, shower, homework etc. how you manage your life- time spent with family members. and how you manage your money ie movies, clothes, food. should take you no more than 35 minutes to brainstorm, write, read and proofread and make necessary corrections. hope this helps you and good luck. p.s it is how YOU utilize YOUR time. so make sure you have references about your life. peace out vivien

look at DCSF website for current issues such as 16-19 curriculum review, EYFS phonics, creative curriculum
if it is specifically for secondary English then I'd concentrate on things relevant to that
it may be that they make it completely open and you choose what to write about, the point of the task will be two fold - to check that you have prepared for the course by researching current issues and to check the level of your unsupported communication skills

I'm curious to know what you have read about Arthur Conan Doyle, since there are lots of websites about him. www.sherlockian.net should steer you to some of them, or Google, or wikipedia.

One thing I can tell you about Doyle - he loved adventure. He took passage as a medical man on a whaler in the Arctic, and on another ship to Africa. He was a war correspondent in the Sudan and spent time as a physician during the South African War (aka the Boer War)

He was a spiritualist, whereas Holmes was not. Holmes dismissed the Hound of the Baskervilles story as fit for "a collector of fairy-tales", and therefore thought the danger to Sir Henry was not supernatural - although Holmes did have a philosophical bent and believed that religion could be proven by scientific observation of nature.
