Writing A Response Essay
Darrell Said:
How do I write a response essay to an article? We Answered:
First, you need to do a very brief summary of the article. Then you need to include your feelings and opinions about the article. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Why or why not. Try to connect it to your life and how it affects you.Depending on the required length, you may or may not need to go in depth.

Help on writing a response essay to this book?We Answered:
Perhaps reading someone else's summary will help you finish, so I've given you a link of such a summary.I have not read the book, but most book reports are pretty standard.
Your first paragraph actually should have cited the title, date of publishing, author's name, and the theme of the book.
Then, second and third paragraphs should list some key characters and their role in the book, i.e, the "hero", the "villain", the supporting people and relationship to others in the story.
Finally, your teacher is right, give a conclusion that gives your opinion, did you like the book, if not why, and if you did like it, also why?
The purpose of a book report is to let teacher know you really READ the book, but also, can you WRITE your opinions and summary down in a manner that is understandable, good spelling, and grammatically correct.
You get away from using "first person" in your report this way:
Instead of saying: I read this book, titled.....
You say: This book is titled....
Instead of saying: I think this is a very good book.
You say: This is a very good book because it helped me (or I learned that).......
Instead of saying: For me, the hero could have.....
You say: The book might have been better, if the hero would have....
See?
Good luck, hope you get an A.

Help with a Writing Response To Literature essay....?We Answered:
I'm not sure if i'm good at english. I took AP last year and i'm taking Dual Credit this year. I will give it a try.People act differantly (they will not be themselfs) in order to be loved.
-girls will give unworthy guys their purity in order to feel loved.
People cheat, kill, and lie in order to be envied.
-people go into massive dept every day in order to look rich.
this quote reminds me of the book "The Great Gatsby"
I feel as though i just brushed over the surface level of this quote, sorry if i was no help. i wish you luck.

How to write an Response Essay? We Answered:
To be informal, avoid focusing on things that are formal. I know that sounds trite, but what I mean is: APA and MLA are very specific styles that will constrain your writing (and, frankly, I'm not sure what they have to do with the task at hand). To write informally, you should still do much of what you would do to write formally: come up with an idea for your writing (i.e., a point you're trying to make), think about a few ways to express it (e.g., tell an anecdote, give some examples, contradict the article, etc.), and then write it.
A key way to make your writing informal instead of formal is to use arguments and techniques that would not be accepted in formal writing. If you've ever gotten guidance or tips on formal writing, look at the list of "don'ts" and go DO some of them. For example, in formal writing it is inappropriate to address the reader. That is, you don't say "you" (also called the second person). Try it. In formal writing, you don't use contractions (don't, ain't, can't, won't, etc.) and you don't use casual expressions ("give props," "big up," "dis", etc.). Use some of these techniques, but don't go overboard. Formal writing uses well structured sentences. Really long sentences that read almost like stream-of-consciousness would be bad in formal writing, but would be fine in informal writing.
A key to doing informal writing well in a class will be to make sure that you have a point to the writing. You need to have something you're trying to say. If you focus too much on doing informal things like slang and contractions, without having a good point, it will look bad. Unless you really have something interesting to say, it will be all style and no substance. That's why I say it's quite similar to writing formally.
I cited a set of tips on formal writing. Try NOT doing some of these. :) In terms of writing a response to the article, try taking the opposite opinion and see if you can write something convincing. Or, if the article says "X is true because of A, B, and C," then pick one of A, B, or C and argue it. That is, you can say "Well, maybe X is true when A, B, and C are true, but I know a lot about B, and I don't think B is true that often. Here's why."

What points of view are you limited to when writing a response essay in your own opinion? We Answered:
You can site any study relevant to the question, either for or against, your opinion, but give the reasoning.I would be inclined to state my stance in the introduction and then write the answer impersonally.
