University Essay Writing

Dwayne Said:

Where can I find help on writing a University Essay?

We Answered:

The following pages have useful advice:
www.bestessaytips.com
www.collegeboard.com
Once you have completed the essay, have it proofread and improved by an on line editing company such as www.editangels.com
Don't worry too much about it, I would suggest starting with a mindmap then prepare a simple draft. You can then fill in the finer details and I am sure that the rest will follow.

Tips on writing psychology university essay?

We Answered:

Okay.

So you'll need to go over how tests can pin point different LDs, what are the advantages of this, how has is been applied, in schools, work places, has it resulted in different teaching methods, strategies etc. And example of this might be dyslexia and improving co ordination.

Then, what about the down sides, talk about the pros and cons of 'special' schools vs mainstream education, stigma, perhaps what happens in extreme cases like eugenics. Can a label of low IQ prevent people from achieving?

You might also like to look at Sternberg and some of the stuff about whether IQ tests really encompass IQ.

And then your conclusion.

Learning disabilities really isn't my area but hopefully this gives you a springboard.

Can anyone give me really good tips on how to write a university essay?

We Answered:

It really depends on what subject the essay is for! I always find it helpful to type the question out on a piece of paper and have it in front of me, to keep referring to and to stop me wandering way off!

Use your question as the basis for your introduction. Never introduce anything new in your conclusion, and always do in the body of your essay what you said you were going to do in your introduction! Some people find it helpful to write their intro last! But I have never found this helpful - but you might, so try it!

Another tip is to realise that whatever your ideas are, 99.9999% of the time they won't be original ideas! Someone somewhere has probably come up with it before! So quote or reference and remember to include the source in your bibliography!

Don't rely on spell-check! Sometimes it accepts the US spellings of words we spell differently!

I have never written an essay plan yet - think you waste valuable time on it and then you get ideas while you are writing and you change all your thoughts! As long as you continually check the question so you don't digress from it.

Another thing is to make sure you have good notes and always keep a note of your sources for your Biliography.

Never use modal verbs, they weaken your argument.

Always try to finish your essay a week before it's due, then leave it alone for a few days and go back for the editing process.

Hope these help! Incidentally, have you got a Student Learning service or similar? We have one at our Uni and they are fab- they do all sorts of workshops you help you with esay writing, time management and things like that, so if you have them use them! That's what they are there for.

Good Luck

University essay writing?!

We Answered:

In class essays are generally only for exams and you will not be using a computer during exams! Most essays are to be done at home, many require library research and plenty of professors do not want 'online' resources unless you're references electronic journals which you will be able to access through your university's library/subscription with a password. Unless of course, you don't attend a proper university in which case you won't have access to journals etc. online and will be limited with your research and your education.

One way to tell if a website is reliable is the .edu, .gov, .ca etc. and looking at the name and credentials of the person publishing online.

Discuss It!
