The thesis is hard for a good writer, because it's usually not a very subtle statement. You basically need to hit the reader with a brick in the head. If the paper is about the evident respect in To Kill a Mockingbird, then you need to say this. Don't try to be coy, don't try to be clever. Composition teachers have to read paper after paper on the same subject, day in and day out. They want you to be technically correct.

Examples: "Harper Lee's characters in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' show an obvious respect for (fill in the blank)."

"Respect plays a vital role in the development of the storyline in 'To Kill a Mockingbird'".

Yeah, these aren't subtle, sexy writing techniques. However, the technical details come first. I usually write my papers to be as technically correct as possible, then, when I revise them, I try to make them 'pretty' without changing the key points.

Different teachers have different styles, though. Sometimes, a thesis will come at the end of the paper. In your case, I think this is a bad idea. It sounds as though you are doing an informative/evaluation type of paper. In a paper like this, the reader needs a map to follow. Good luck.

Faulkner uses Symbolism to show logical tragedy, insanity, lonliness and pride, and a few others that you can find online.

When you write your thesis, always remember you can change it at any time. Don't rewrite a paper to fit your thesis.... Just change it to flow in with what you are trying to say in the writing

Which book do you have? I have the Biology: Concepts and Connections 6th edition by Campbell, reece, taylor, simon, dickey. I'm in college general biology which is pretty much the same thing. I dont know if this is right, but it sounds pretty similar:
