Because you mention thesis I'm therefore assuming this is an essay which is part of a bigger piece of research? In which case it is not common practise to develop your thesis statement after writing the body of an essay. But that doesn't mean you can't do it. It's easy to go back and adjust the wording of an intro if you need to. Some people like to get down on paper everything that is in their head, regardless of the typical structure. You can go back and change things to fit. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'My essay is structured by example'
