I'd tear it in half, put the pieces on top of each other, and do that again three more times, so I'd tear it four times in all. Each page ends up in 16 pieces (I think!) The only thing I may do differently is fold it in half before I rip it so there are more smaller pieces but don't ask me how many :p

Anyway, I always fold and tear things four times like that; anything at all I am throwing out like junk mail, memos, faxes etc. I work in a large office and there are one or two weirdos who would probably sift through certain people's bins after work given half the chance! They wont find anything useful in mine.

(PS Edit; Folding once and tearing four times means each page is ripped into 28 pieces. I know because I just did it and counted them. I think that would deter anyone from trying to read your stuff)

Well it depends on what you're writing about, but in general, don't use contractions, use correct grammar and spelling, and don't plagiarize. Also, read your paper to yourself as you go along, because sometimes you'll catch yourself writing things that don't sound right when read aloud.
