Paper Writing Tips

Ross Said:

can someone give me sum tips on writing this paper?

We Answered:

Here is the answer you probably don't want to hear: Do some research. Look back at the rationale for setting the drinking age at 21. Probably there were scientific studies linking drinking by young people to physical and mental damage and to road deaths. Do you agree with it or disagree? Why? Do not make claims without backing them with facts and numbers or your argument will fall as flat as your grade. Next time start your work earlier so you won't have to scramble to scrape something together. And for the love of God, check your work, even in posts on the internet! Correct grammar and spelling will get you loads of respect- even on the 'net- and will set you apart from the lazy, apathetic masses.

Any Tips on Writing an Art History Paper ?

We Answered:

Hi Jon, I have my degree in Applied Business in Photography with a minor diploma in Commercial & Fine Art. I loved Art History! I went to Antonelli College of Art and Photography and the University of Indiana at Richmond to give you a little heads up on my background.

I would start with an introduction that focuses on the attire that Robert Fulton was painted with using descriptive colonial-like vocabulary terms.
Using the key terms listed under this painting are subtitles that I would write into paragraphs on in the essay:

I would then focus on the amount of contrast Alonzo used when attempting to create a perfect gray scale portrait of Mr. Fulton next and why he chose to use not too much richer grays in the portrait and then explain why the low amount of contrast was used matching this idea with the plain or homely like facial expressions on Roberts face.
I would then focus on how the wardrobe chosen by Robert was rather popular amongst other men in this century and how Robert was able to "fit-in" appearance wise with the newest trends in fashion for men compared to others Mr. Fulton new as friends or acquaintances.
The interior decorating is one of the last parts of this essay I would definitely touch base upon with the structure and the form of the background, and why the interior brings out the professional attire Mr. Fulton is wearing by not being to fancy to where the eye is not easily misled off of Mr. Fulton - which would easily happen if the furniture was more "pretty" or "attractive" in victorian style furniture considering that Robert was not a rather extremely attractive fellow, now in this century and also then in his era.
Another aspect of this painting is how Alonzo positioned Robert when he painted this portrait, and why he painted his hands and arms in the position he did to allow any audience viewing this portrait, why the way he positions the hands and arms to show that Robert was a very shy individual and why any audience should know, by just looking at this portrait, that he is a very quiet and unsocial among other people with an extroverted personality type.

I would explain why the artist wanted audiences of people to question whether or not Robert was more concerned with being an accomplished genius rather than being concerned with social acceptance as a norm.
Here is another link that might broaden your ideas of Mr. Fulton's background from a very reliable encyclopedia source that I would put into my own words to avoid any and all plagiarism:

I would describe his posture and physique as well as the confidence level he had when touching base on why he appears to be an inventor that looks as if he could easily get discouraged but still have enough stick to-it-ive-ness.
I hope this helps, Jon, and let me know if you need further help - I always received A's when writing essay papers with required descriptive vocabulary.

Tips for writing a paper in five days?

We Answered:

History has so much to do with how it is taught and presented. Choose a topic that interests you. Cuba? The Holocaust? US History? The first day, go to the library and get your materials. Read. Make notes of interesting points as you read, make note of the page numbers and book titles as you read so that you don't have to go culling back through to reference your points.

Second day, take all of your notes and organize them. You will need an introduction/thesis, content paragraphs, conclusion. Decide how you want your content to be presented-- three or four main ideas (which you have mentioned in the thesis) work well.

Third day, write your introduction and work on the body of the paper. Same on the fourth day. Same on the fifth day-- though begin to edit and write your conclusion.

I wish you well. Don't procrastinate any further---it won't get any easier. This way you have three days to really write and organize. But the first day you will have to spend considerable time reading and note-taking. The second day, it will be a challenge to organize your ideas. But the clearer you can be, the simpler writing the paper will be. Then you have time to write and re-write.

Tips for writing a term paper?

We Answered:

can't point you to sources beyond NY Times and the like... but two issues that have arisen:
Massive factory closures and unemployment as foreign demand for chinese manufactured goods has dried up-
this has caused china to stop purchasing US debt and direct its banks to loan the money out to develop domestic markets and industry...if you compare this with the USSR during the depression, there is a distinct possibility that China will come out of this recession much closer to matching the US as a superpower than it was going into the recession.
The workers who are losing their jobs are heading back to their rural villages (de-urbanization), but the question remains (unanswered for now) - how many of these unemployed people are sticking around in the cities?... if the reach critical mass, there is a distinct possibility China will see a counter revolution against the "communist" leadership.

i usually like to include powerful quotes, the ones that aren't overused, but make you think. if the paper is more like a letter, pretend like you are talking to that person directly, and include examples of how their influences have changes you.

Discuss It!
