Honesty is always the best option, even if sometimes it doesn't seem that way. Introduce yourself ... start out with something interesting like... "I was ten years old and befriended an elderly lady at a nursing home my mother was employed at. As our friendship grew I sensed that she was lonely and had not been well taken care of by her family. She had no photographs hanging on the walls, no cards on her birthday, her clothes were few and well worn. It was I that she spoke of the day before she passed away and when the staff told me this and of the huge change that had come over her in her final months since I had been visiting her, I realized that there was only one thing I wanted to do in my life. I wanted to make a difference and give the care to every single person that they deserved. Today the reason I am applying to Nursing school is because I feel that becoming a Nurse is the best way to make a difference in the quality of life of those I feel compelled to serve. That would be my story anyway. Sit and think for a while...whats yours?

a. Why you want to become that type of nurse

b. How you plan to meet those future plans and aspirations

c. Why do you think you deserve that job over someone else

d. If you got the job, what would your next goals be? Don't put anything - Always have goals. Goals give you motivation.

I would look at the sense of loss with admission. The loss of home, the loss of role in the interaction with the family, the loss of self determination and freedom of movement, the loss of hope for improved health, the loss of spouse at bedside, the loss of grandchildren nearby, the loss of the ability to attend religious services at the family church/synagogue/temple, the loss of pets, the loss of possessions, the loss of control, the loss of privacy.
