For me, what I found easiest was to first write a general essay and tweak it to whatever that specific scholarship wanted. It saves you a lot of time. Once you write the first essay, it is all down hill from there. Make sure you have answered every single one of their questions that are posted as trivial as they may sound. Then have a few teachers you trust to look over them and have a guidance counselor (if you're in high school review them).
