Rebecca Said:

How do I write good essays to win contests/sweepstakes?

We Answered:

write the unexpected
don't use high language/jargon

these writing sweepstakes are not just for you to sound like a "good" wordy writer, but to show SOMETHING... through your writing. Remember it's the content that is most important.

There's not many tips I can give you because it's up to you to write this "walk on a role for a move" essay contest. Good luck! :D

How do you write good essays?

We Answered:

Good essays tell people what they are going to say, they say what they are going to say and then they tell the reader what they just told them.

Come up with an idea and find three basic points that support your idea. Open with an introduction explaining your idea and list your ideas as to why you think you are right. Then take one paragraph a piece to expand upon you arguments. At the end sum it all up again and drive the point home.

People remember the last thing they read, so be firm in your final paragraph. If they feel how strongly you believe in your argument they will believe it as well.

Two things to remember, being articulate helps good arguments, it is not a substitution to doing good research on your subject first, and good transitions are a key. If your arguments flow together the reader will be drawn in.

how do you write good essays?

I just finished my yearlies and I had to wrote an essay for my English test too. This is what my teacher taught us.

To write a good essay:
Step 1. You need to consider what the question means and what you will need to do to answer it.

Step 2. Make a plan. Introduction-Your introduction should state the focus of the essay. For example, if you are writing about a book or movie, you must firstly write the name of the subject, who it is written by, and the year it was published.

Step 3. The body. The body takes up most of your essay it should take up about 3-5 paragraphs. The first sentence of each paragraph is often called the ' topic sentence'. A topic sentence should clearly explain what the paragraph is about.

Step 4. Identify any poetic devices, quotes and explain their effect. Choose these carefully.

Step 5. Try to use scholarly vocabulary. Your language should be formal, plain and clear.

Step 6. The conclusion - This is where you should sum up what you have written or argued. Do not add any new information here. Refer to the language of the question again to make sure you have clearly explained what your point of view is. Do not simply repeat the introduction or the question.

Good Luck on your essay.
