How To Write An Essay For University

Robert Said:

help writing an essay for university?

We Answered:

in general:
explicate the problem or situation before you try to define your opinion or proposed solution: define the terms, give some background info that demonstrates you have some knowledge or at least that you have done a little research

Then when you do start launching into your own ideas, be bold, but phrase the ideas tentatively: may instead of will, that sort of thing. Academics (those who will read your paper and make judgments about it) usually consider it bad form for an undergrad to come off as the wisest person to walk the earth. However, even worse is to offer no ideas at all! Come on, this is a university, we are supposed to be able to think about something and express ourselves.

Don't forget a good conclusion, at least one full paragraph, probably more than that if you want an A.

Try this:
consider every essay question and topic offerd in college assignments as being prefaced by this phrase:
"Show that you can think and write clearly and that you deserve a diploma from this institution by . . ."

So, the assignment: "Explain the causes of the American Civil War without mentioning slavery."
BECOMES INSTEAD: ""Show that you can think and write clearly and that you deserve a diploma from this institution by explaining the causes of the American Civil War without mentioning slavery."

what are the rules for capitalizing letters in an essay title?

We Answered:

Capitalize every word except "in" and "to."

(The rule is to capitalize the first word and then capitalize every word but "a," "an," "the," and short conjunctions and propositions. Pronouns get capitalized.)

How to write an essay for admission? (UNIVERSITY)?

We Answered:

First of all, if you use "ur" you're guaranteed not to be accepted. ;) Seriously, though, I hate writing those essays. Good luck. If it says 1000 words, you should write close to 1000 words. Really, that shouldn't be hard. What might be hard is writing no more than 1000 words. Remember that the people who read your essay will be reading tons of these essays. Try to write something that will set you apart (in a good way, of course). If you have any funny anecdotes that relate to your reasons for wanting to attend, or that demonstrate a trait that makes you a good candidate, that is always a good thing to include.

How to write an essay about writing contemporary fiction?

We Answered:

Suggestion for things you could incorporate in the essay:

1. Definitions of what is contemporary fiction (provide sources of course). This should be part of the intro paragraph or opening of the essay.
2. Look for specific examples of good contemporary fiction. Particularly any example that may have influenced you while writing your story. Mention this in the essay.
3. Discuss some of your personal favorite contemp fiction authors and what appeals to you from their work. Discuss how their work has influenced your writing and your story.
4. Provide your personal opinion on contemporary fiction and writing contemp fiction
5. How does your story fit the above
6. Conclusion

Discuss It!
