How To Write An Essay For College

Carrie Said:

PLEASE HELP!! I need help on how to write a college essay for an exam i have.?

We Answered:

First you need to determine what type of essay you want to write. Is it going to be informative, or persuasive? What topic are you going to write about? What do you want to convey to the reader? Also, remember who the intended audience is. Are you writing this to inform / persuade your professor, or are you writing the to inform / persuade a random person. (Intended audience if VERY important to keep in mind throughout the entire essay) Next, create an outline of all your information, and how you want to present it. Then, you can begin typing. Always remember to print it out, and read it aloud to yourself. There are always mistakes in grammar, and general flow that you tend to overlook when you just look at it on the computer screen. Then have a friend read it over, or better yet, bring it to the writing lab on campus(VERY helpful). Good luck!

How to write an essay.?

We Answered:

I've only heard of PEE; Point, Elaboration, Example (or, as I like to call it, Evidence.) Let's use an example. Let's say that the issue is "Books are better than television."

Point
- Books are more in depth in nature.
Elaboration
- Books can contain more information than a television show.
- Having more information means that a person can understand more about a particular subject.
- Hence books are better than television.
Example/Evidence
- The National Geographic magazine considered 10 points about Global Warming as opposed to the National Geographic channel which only addressed 4.

There you go.

How do you write an amazing college admissions essay?

We Answered:

For my college essay I told them about what motivated me to go to college, especially to the college I was interested in. Or talk about a time when you faced adversity and beat the odds. Also if you are the first in your family to go to college, talk about that. Then mention how you are all around, such as extracurricular activities or if you have any volunteer experiences. Normally the admissions essay is used to see if you can communicate effectively to even go to college and it can be your chance to shine if you have a low gpa, sat or act scores, or just bad grades in general.

I want to write a college essay on how my one year older sis has had an influence on me.I want to show that I?

We Answered:

Were you competitive with her? Did you always feel you had to live up to the high standards she set? Perhaps you could talk about the ways in which you competed with her, how you felt about that and her, and then lead into how your life changed after she went to college. That sets up your conclusion about what you gained/learned from the relationship.
