Heroes are introduced to people early on in life usually as fictional characters, but as children grow older their perceptions of heroes alter. The characteristics of a hero are usually based around the ideas of a society or culture. In the epic Beowulf, the main character is thought of as a hero. Beowulf, a pagan warrior and the main character of the epic, shows certain characteristics such as bravery, loyalty, and generosity, which portray him as a hero. It is interesting how modern day heroes show much of the same qualities as Beowulf.

What is more important to you: your grade or your opinion?

Personally, I would have written the assigned essay. You just have to learn to roll with it and come up with reasons to support your topic even if you don't believe it.
And if you needed to come up with reasons why boys are better than girls, just use all the stereotypes (i.e. Boys are stronger, better in math and science, harder workers.)

Though I agree with you that they're equal, I would have BS'd the paper the teacher wanted.
