How to write an argumentative essay about Yoruba women?

We Answered:

If you want to talk about female subjugation - the Yoruba are a really bad place to start.
Yoruba women have a clearly defined role in their society, but not just as housemakers (they tend to manage the house expenses independently, have almost total control of childcare and education issues, and even a strong public identity through their churchwork).
The Hausa keep their women down much more than the Yoruba do.
If you are determined to work on the Yoruba you will need to argue that a woman's independence is somehow less valuable than a man's.
I lived in Yoruba societies for several years. You would find it hard to convince me of that.

how to write an introductory paragraph to an argumentative essay?

Acknowledge the existence of the controversy, state your basic position, and state a brief summary of your reasoning (list 2-4 points which will serve as the conclusions of the essay sections).

Get some facts. The previous post probably gives places where you can find them.

Figure out what you want to argue about. Are too many freshmen taking remedial courses. Are high-school classes not preparing students properly?

Decide which side you're on. Now you can start.

Make the problem and the side you're on clear in your thesis statement.

Describe the major reasons you hold your point of view.

Fairly list the arguments on the other side.

Show why those are wrong, or why yours are better.

Conclude.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I all I know is the subject, not the question or your argument for or against it.
