Try writing "blind". Turn off your monitor, and just type anything that pops into your head... what you like, don't like, think, feel, what you're afraid of, proud of, good memories, bad memories, etc. After 15 or 20 minutes, go back and look at what you wrote. See if there is a theme. If so, work from that. If not, wait a few hours and add on, look again to see what pops up. You'd be amazed how well it can work - it got me through lots of college essays. Hope it helps...
