How To Write A Descriptive Essay

What to write a college descriptive essay? We Answered:
descriptive just means youre describing......just write....you must be early on in your college career since youre doing this assignment and youre asking for help......usually teachers are helpful at this time in giving suggestions and offering help to improve your righting. break the essay up into paragraphs, each paragraph should cover a different topic----since youre writing about your favorite person (dad) you should tell why he is your favorite person....DESCRIBE why he is your favorite person. one paragraph may cover how he makes good choices and you look up to him, another may describe how he is smart, another may describe how he cares about you and your family, one may describe how he gives good advice, another how he is fun to hang out with....etc etc. just pick maybe 3 or 4 separate reasons of why he is your favorite person (depending on how long it is....may need more, may need less), and have each of these reasons make up a paragraph. always provide examples in these types of essays....so, if youre saying that he gives good advice, you can tell about a time that you had a problem and you came to him and he helped you to solve the problem (of course, this example would go into the proper paragraph). put a thesis statement at the end of the introduction that says something along the lines of "my dad is my favorite person because he is _____, _____, and _____. (these reasons that youre giving on why your dad is your fav person----shown by the blanks above----should all be topics of your paragraphs---one paragraph topic per reason. make sense? questions?Kathleen Said:
How do I write a descriptive essay about Hawaii? We Answered:
Hello Jen, Upon traveling the world, Hawaii is often the place of tropical paradise. Whether you experience Hawaii’s various natural beauties, breath taking tranquil waters or stunning floral design, Hawaii truly has something to offer to everyone. Hawaii is a state that attracts tourists because of its national parks, underwater world and geography. It is well known for its volcanoes, beaches, and climate. For these reasons, Hawaii is one of the most desired places of travel. Hawaii is said to have been discovered in early 1778 and has been a desirable place to live and visit since. In 1959, Hawaii became part of the United States of America. This did wonders for the economy. It also saw more people coming in as a fact of tourism. There are six main islands in Hawaii anyone can visit. They are Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii, (they are listed from west to east). The capital, Honolulu, is located on Oahu. read the complete essay here:Miriam Said:
How do you write a descriptive essay? We Answered:
You'd do better to write about something concrete, such as one place you visited on a vacation. Then if you can focus on one overall impression or feeling that that place creates, so much the better. Then think of two or three aspects of the place that contribute to that feeling. Now you're ready to begin. A two-page typed essay should consist of several paragraphs (absolute minimum four--introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion). Those "aspects," with lots of concrete examples and details to develop each one, will be your body paragraphs. The thesis statement, which should be the last sentence of the introduction, should cover all the aspects but need not mention them specifically.
So write the thesis, and write two or three sentences to go before it--to catch the reader's attention, provide background information if necessary, and generally lead up to the thesis. Now you have an introductory paragraph of three or four sentences.
Decide in what order you want to arrange the body paragraphs, and write the first one. Mention one aspect of the place in the topic sentence, and use sensory images--visual ones especially, but sounds, smells, touch/feeling sensations, and even tastes can also be appropriate.
The other body paragraphs should be constructed the same way, but each of their topic sentences should begin with transition from the previous paragraph into the present one. Don't just stick in a transitional word like "furthermore" if you can help it, but use an actual phrase that looks back to the preceding paragraph--something like this: "Even more awesome than the bent spruce trees at the top of Spruce Knob was the sight of the surrounding countryside from up there." Then you proceed to give the details of that feature of the place.
If you have more than two body paragraphs (some teachers absolutely insist on three, but this one never did), the last one should begin with a transition that lets the reader know that this is the last one and should focus of the most impressive part of the place being described. Then you develop it as before.
The conclusion simply sums up the impression made by the earlier parts of the essay. You could mention again, briefly, the features or aspects you've described, and then you can close by restating your main idea in different words--letting the reader know that you've done what you set out to do. The conclusion should be about the same length as the introduction.
If any advice I've given here contradicts instructions your teacher has given, then of course do it the way he or she told you to.

How would I write a descriptive essay on my flag, in third person? We Answered:
You should start by giving a description of the flag - what pictures or symbols it contains, what they mean, and why they are significant to your history and culture. If you need more to write about, consider discussing previous versions of the flag - what they looked like, etc, just like you did for the current flag. Contrast and compare previous versions with the current one, and discuss how the decision to make changes came about, and why the changes were made.Shirley Said:
How to write a descriptive essay? We Answered:
You could have something patriotic such as,The Statue of Liberty represents the morals of America: freedom, strength, and beauty.
Something such as that. Then explain what it is for a bit, talk about some history, talk about why it has been loved over the years...
be sure not to have an opinion, or use the word 'I' or 'me', etc.

How do I write a descriptive essay about? We Answered:
You're not going to get a whole essay out of that topic. It would be easier to just describe your piano.Grand or upright? What color? Old or new? Use ajectives, similes and metaphors (without overdoing it) Think about your senses. What do you see? Hear? (Is it tinny or mellow) Smell? polish?
Feel? (What do the keys feel like? Do the pedals work smoothly or do you have to push?)
