How to write a college comparison and contrast essay?

You need to find out the strengths and weaknesses of having a female empolyee and a male employee, then you can compare the two. In your thesis you should state the overall differences between the two and the similarities. If you can't fit it all into one statement, you could write a thesis paragraph.

How to write a comparison/contrast essay?

Read the two poems. Compare by asking yourself: In what ways are they alike? Do they have a similar meaning? Are they similar in the way they are written/ style, etc. How do they make you feel? Then, contrast them by asking yourself how they are different, and what sets each one apart. Here's an example of contrast: "although poem one and poem two are both about love, poem one shows the pain of the author, while poem two is written from a joyful perspective, and shows the happy side." I would get more detailed than that (be descriptive)! Hope that helps!

HELP PLEASE!!! how do you write a good topic/beginning sentence for a comparison/contrast essay? PLEASE HELP!?

I liked Roxy's suggestion. However, you do not say if you are planning on emphasizing email over postal mail or visa versa. Depending on how you are going to approach your topic, you might consider: "Although email is becoming more and more popular and provides the same ability to communicate as postal mail, I believe the differences are also significant enough to guarantee the survival of both methods." From there, you could go on to compare the differences in speed, but the ability of postal mail to provide more personal messages. You might then include any personal experiences with both postal and email. For example, I love the speed of email and the ability to send the same message simultaneously to several people. However, I also cherish some hand-written letters that I have saved--ones from my husband when he was assigned overseas and ones from my mother who is deceased. Just seeing Mom's handwriting brings back wonderful memories of a special lady.

How do I write a good comparison and contrast essay?

We Answered:

It would help if I knew what the poem was about but here goes. I'm guessing that the universal truth might deal with the "to be or not to be" speech, which is also known as the life and death speech.

Your opening paragraph should deal with the main theme/ the global statement. Where tin his came from: the name of the written works. Then make your thesis: Hamlet looked at death like this, while this poem by such and such says this. This is your thesis statement. You must now defend it.

Your first paragraph body should talk about the first one mentioned: Hamlet in this case. Now tell us what hamlet says about death. "to sleep, to perhaps dream. Oh what dreams may come" Hamlet sees death as but a great sleep that comes to all and that there is something after death.

Paragraph two should give the poems side: "While hamlet saw a life after death, such and such said there is nothing after this life". This is where you would put in a quote or line from poem to back up what you stated. "Life, death, and then the abyss".

Then conclude with a re-feral back to your thesis that hamlet saw thing differently from the such and such's poem. Hamlet saw life after death and the other guy saw it as a complete end to everything.

That is the basis of a comparison essay. The more lines you can put to both people, the more professional and thought out the essay will be. The teacher will then see a well thought out argument and should give you an A. Remember also, you want a minimum of three to four sentences to each paragraph.

Discuss It!
