This is a great world classic! My favorite. If you have not read it read it now. A quick read, really. Dickens was a master like no other.

Start with the time it takes place. Include the financial situation of the time. That is important. Describe the general mood of the story.
Hard-working, underpaid people and the rich upper crust.
Then, describe the key personalites, Scrooge, Marley, Bob Cratchett, Tiny Tim, and the Cratchett family.
Get into the personal lives. The joy the Marley's know and what Srooge with all his money does not yet know. Their general demeanor.
Next, get seriously into Scrooge. His way of business, how he built it, his views on Christmas and helping others in general. His love of money. His relationship with his sister and his nephew. Include the key element here that his mother died giving Scrooge life just as his sister died giving his nephew life but which he did not forgive....at least yet.
Then analyze and describe his visit from Marley's ghost and each of the three ghostly visitiations and the effect each had on Scrooge, during and after.
Then describe the best part of the story, Scrooge's turn-around. How he saw what his life had been and how he can change it for the better. The better of others and himself. What he does and how he is now received by others. Remember to include his housekeeper, his nephew's party, the prize turkey to the Cratchett's and of course Tiny Tim and his new relationship with Scrooge.

The first thing that you should do is read "The Great Gatsby". It is a short read, and all should be made clear once you do read it. The book is written with Gatsby's friend Nick Carraway as the narrator, yet all roads lead back to Gatsby himself, even though the other characters are well-developed.
