It seems to me you're helping people cheat by writing their essays for them. Nothing noble or worthy about that to warrant more than $25. Hell, even that is undeserved.

Without the professional skills and experience you're not going to find many gigs where you're paid more than $25. As a writer with seven years of experience professionally and dealing with a bad economy I'm lucky to earn $100 for work that in all reality should be more like $175-200.

I'm interested in reviewing one of your essays just to see how your writing looks and what makes you think you deserve more. What do you want to bet you don't have the guts to send one?

I'm unemployed as far as a full-time job is concerned, yes. But that doesn't mean I am not working somewhat regularly. I have freelance work coming in thank you. I live in Las Vegas where one is lucky to even find a job and even luckier if they find one in their field and/or pays well. I won't work for $8 an hour, not with my experience. It's a tough market, that's all I'm saying.

I don't think I am superior in any way nor I am insecure. Nice ASSumption on your part. Not surprised that that is your primary defense to justify yourself. Novices usually pull that one when challenged.

The answer to your question depends on the question to which you are to write your free-response. I teach eighth grade history and I would expect my students to use their own knowledge to answer such a question. It would be good if you could support your arguments with facts, though. This would show that you can find the information that you need but also that you can analyze and synthesize the information.
