Examples Descriptive Essay Writing

Help with writing a short descriptive essay on my child?

We Answered:

Write it like a love letter; the kind you would want your parents to write if they were ever to do (or even did) that. Or receive as a child yourself.

Any examples of how to write your own descriptive essay draft on topic below?

If you write about a daydream there are many details you can use to describe. Think about the 5 senses. What do you smell: food, rain, etc..What do you see: sky with clouds in the shape of ___, landscape, vivid colors, a shoddy old barn, rolling landscapes....Physical touch: Cool breeze, warm sandy beach, fuzzy leaves between your finger tips....Taste: ripened blueberries cool to the touch and sweet to the taste....Sound: Birds chirping, ocean waves, whistling wind,

As you describe some of this stuff you could add some subjective details: An old barn that reminds me of my days playing at grandma's farm, jumping into a pile of hay, sneezing for 5 hours, and having to scrub the dust from certain orifices.

There are infinite possibilities to a daydream. You might think of it like a story, to help arouse creativity, if that helps.

Description of ?... ah, how he interacts with different family members...ah, how he IS a family member, like how he enriches your family.

Cool project, have fun with it - just boast about your friendly feline!

Any topic suggestions to write a descriptive essay?

We Answered:

I always could write alot about bodies of water. Like Niagara Falls or the beach I go to. There are a lot of movements, sounds, smells, feelings that could be associated with either! The rushing force of the ice cold water rapids... the thunderous echoing that is created as the water spills over the rounded edges...mist spraying like a cool shower on a hot july afternoon...smoothness of water flowing...

Descriptive Writing essay help?

Ok, well you've actually tackled the hardest part. You've made a choice for setting. Now stick to it. Don't go changing your mind in the middle. That'll only slow you down. So, now for the creative part. When you want to describe a scene, the object is to get your reader involved in it along with you. So, the easiest way to do that is with imagery. Now, mind you, imagery doesn't just mean images. So, you don't have to just describe what things LOOK like. Think sensory images. This means that you should think about all five senses when describing things. This is entirely more important than similes and metaphors. So, when you envision the playground at lunch time, tell me what you HEAR. (The sounds of the children laughing; the "motor-boat" sound of one boy teasing another as he sticks his tongue between his lips, stuff like that) Also tell me what you smell. (The light scent of french fries as a few children eat their lunch, the fresh smell of wet grass as some children slide around playing a game of kick ball, stuff like that.) Do this with as many sense as you can. Pretty soon, you'll see that you've developed quite a different scene at lunch, compared to that after school.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
