Essay Writing Introduction

Shelly Said:

How to start the introduction for essay writing?

We Answered:

Your introduction just has to outline what it is you intend to prove in the body of your essay, clearly and concisely.

If, for example, you are writing an essay on the subject, "Dogs make better companion animals than cats," all you'd have to write in your introduction is why you believe that dogs are better pets. Later, you'll have to support that argument, but the introduction is just to let your reader know what you'll be attempting to prove.

Hope that helps!

Jeremy Said:

When writing a 10 page essay, can the introduction be more than one paragraph?

We Answered:

You should stick to a single introductory paragraph. There are no rules that state a paragraph must be five sentences long. The purpose of the introductory paragraph is to list what points you will be covering in further detail in the paper beyond, and if it requires seven to nine sentences to do so, then that is what you must do. For a larger paper such as yours, it will probably take more sentences.

If you feel you have so much information that it is overkill for a single paragraph, then quite possibly you may have too broad a subject for a paper, and may need to trim down the excess and refine what remains.

I need help writing an introduction/conclusion to my essay?

We Answered:

In the Introduction, write a brief synopsis of what the whole paper is about to spark attention to your essay.

In the conclusions, round up in a concise way the general jest of your topic. It is simple.

What you need to do is reread your own essay and take notes of important factors within that essay to draw interest on your topic and make someone want to read your paper. The ending is then a capsule of what you wrote about the topic.
