Christina Said:

What are my chances of getting into University of Michigan?

We Answered:

GPAs aren't as important as you would think. They often look at entrance score along with your personal experiences. What they are looking for is someone who can succeed at their school. Do your best in class but be balanced in other things. (Sounds like you already are) But make sure you do well on the SAT and ACT. These can negate GPAs any day.

Chances at the University of Rochester and Boston College?

We Answered:

Your extracurriculars and volunteer hours are good and you got 1200 on your SATs. It may help that you're not from New England, colleges like to get people from all over, to provide students with a wider point of view.

Your GPA is working against you. 3.5 or 3.2 just isn't enough for Boston College which is very selective. The son of a friend had a 3.75 from a private prep school, with extracurriculars all over the place and didn't get in. But Marquette in Wisconsin gave him a full scholarship. Go figure.

If you want a top ranked Eastern college, you might want to consider going to a good State college, maxing a 4.0 in the first year at the college level, and then transfering to BC.
