Essay On Writing Skills

Edgar Said:

Help needed in improving essay writing skills...?

We Answered:

Without seeing any of your writing it's a bit difficult to help you but personally I find it's best to plan everything out before you write your essay (ideas you are going to use, quotes and examples to back it up and so on.) Reading more may improve your vocabulary.

Also using T.E.E.L is a good way to write paragraphs in my essays.
T - Topic (What the topic of the paragraph is.)
E - Expand/Explain.
E - Evidence/Examples
L - Link (Linking it back to the topic sentence.)

I hope I helped. =]

Need help increase my essay writing ability before univerity?

We Answered:

When writing essays, I always make a plan. I split it up into parts and write a few notes for each, for example:

Introduction -
Argument for -
Argument against -
Personal opinions -
Conclusion -

Knowing roughly what you'll write and in which part of the essay helps to keep your points concise and logical and stops you from blabbering on. Remember, it's about quality and not quantity.

Make sure you keep your language formal and watch out for spelling and grammar (it's a good idea to leave 5 mins at the end just to check over what you've written).

You need to make the essay flow so don't just stick in random ideas anywhere. Expand on your ideas to add detail with phrases such as 'furthermore', 'in addition' etc. and contrast ideas with phrases such as 'in comparison', 'conversely', 'on the contrary' etc. Whilst this may seem quite obvious, little words like this really help to make an essay sound more smooth and help with transitions between ideas.

And practice, practice, practice! Because, as they say, practice makes perfect.

Good luck!
