College Writing Essay

What are the steps in writing a college essay? Please help me!!!?We Answered:
introductionBody
Conclusion
References
-Introduction (in this order)
~Catchy Opening Phrase
~Some words about the topic in general and others who have studied it, especially why the topic is important
~Your thesis statement
~Description of what you are going to talk about in the paper in order (First I will discuss how ... then ...)
- Body
Should have at least 3 paragraphs
In the order you choose: one paragraph that has a point to back up your thesis, a second paragraph with a new point to back up your thesis, and a third paragraph to discuss the opposing point to your thesis and then your views on that
- Conclusion (in this order)
~ Restate what you discussed (in new words)
~ Restate why it is important (in new words)
~ Say something catchy to end the paper
Generally the shape of a paper is like an hour glass that goes introduction - broad to specific and to conclusion - specific to broad.
Start with forming your thesis and your main points. Most people prefer to right the body of the paper first then go back and write the intro and conclusion.
References refer to where you got information to back up your thesis. Books, websites, etc..
Thesis is the main point/statement of the paper
If you have to use a certain format then you better look it up on google. Most typical format is MLA.

good tips on writing a college essay? We Answered:
You'll want your essay to set you apart from all of the other applicants.... so you really want to stand out. Don't just give them a glib essay about liking community service or enjoying traveling with your family. Describe any meaningful event in your life that might have helped mold who you are today/your career interests, and explain how this will help you achieve your goals at the University, as well as how the University and its community will benefit from you.For example, my essay was about my move from a different country to the United States. I highlighted that even though the move was difficult, it helped me become the versatile and adjustable person that I am today, and this will benefit my school's community because I will bring with me this open mindset.
A friend of mine, who was applying to an engineering program, wrote her essay about how she's not just a math and science person. She talked about her various interests in the arts, and how she feels that the balance between hard academia and creative art allows her to bring in so many factors into her study.
You want to make sure you stand out, and you want to show that you put a lot of thought and feeling into your essay. Jot down some ideas and see which ones you can develop the most meaningful material on. Maybe ask your parents or closest friends for advice too.
Good luck!

Writing a college essay/personal statement when it is not required? We Answered:
It really depends on the college. Some colleges have a place on their application form specifically for what you want to do--writing a statement about why you want to go there and how you would contribute to the school despite what your grades might show (through your hard work, diversity, involvement, etc.).Even if there isn't a place on the application form, though, I think that if you called the admissions office and explained that your grades aren't the best but that you really really want to attend that college, they would accept a personal statement.
Good luck. :)

When writing the college application essay, what are they looking for?We Answered:
They're looking to hear from you. They want to hear your voice and know you as a person.I thin awkward silence is a great idea as I'm sure not many people do it. The majority are going to write about pollution, climate change, perhaps abuse, maybe LGBT rights, et cetera. The admission officers get tired of reading the same hand-fed ideas over and over again. "Awkward silence" would probably be a relief from them, provided you do it well. It's not the most academic topic, for example, so don't sound like you're a scientist when you're writing it.

Writing college essay about a celebrity? We Answered:
No, you should pick someone who you really want to write about; if you just pick a topic because you think it's what admissions is looking for, that'll come through in your essay and ultimately not impress them as much. And you've got good reasons that say a lot about your interests and what you admire, so I'd go for it.
