Youth Creative Writing

Mathew Said:

Could I have Help on creative writing assignment: "inform radical feminists about modeling".?

We Answered:

I think radical feminists are already informed about modeling. Your assignment doesn't seem to make any sense. Perhaps you should ask the teacher for clarification or ask another student for ideas. They know better, since they're taking the same class.

Rick Said:

Can someone critique and give me advice for my creative writing?

We Answered:

I got to the first paragraph after the 18 years earlier header. That first para. in the flashback sequence is jarring, at best. Too many grammar mistakes make it hard to read, and you seem to throw a lot of unrelated stuff in that paragraph which is what completely confused and annoyed me as a reader. This seems like your first draft, and if so then you need to edit this baby to make sure it flows well. If I picked up this book in a store then I would put it back after reading that. It definitely needs to be cleaned up. Make sure your work is polished if you want serious feedback, and that means make sure your work is well edited and it's not your first draft.

"It was a long trip, about 9 hours." - Never use words like "about" because that gives the impression that you, the author, aren't sure, and you don't want to give that impression. Remove words that give doubt like "about" and "think" when used in that context (ie: I *think* it was nine in the morning - either it was or wasn't).

The sentence will read clearly as: "It was a long trip." OR "It was a nine hour trip." If you're giving us the amount of time then we can garner from that whether it was long or short, so you don't have to tell us.

I stopped reading. This isn't well written. Bad writing sinks good ideas. Polish it up.

We Answered:

ITS really good, make it rhyme and u got a poem. Deep and insightful, when death comes it is so sudden. its a transition we never knew we made. Whats after this life? Its like we're already dead walking ard others who are also dead. just tht we do not know it.

Wayne Said:

What would the opposing side argue when discussing the importance of creative writing?

We Answered:

I would suggest that it is actually quite difficult to argue a case against creative writing as such. What I suspect an opponent would argue is that it is not a particularly useful or practical skill, and certainly not vocational (except in a very few cases which tend to be as much luck as anything) and youth should focus more on things that will help them get employment/ earn money etc.....

Jennifer Said:

what direction do you think the creative influnence in Candadian youth culture will go?

We Answered:

Probably the same way that it does in America. Speaking as a youth of the '60s, there really isn't much that our creative influence changed in society. Most of us just ended up facing the realities of life and moved on into the middle class.
