Alex Said:

Which University should I choose?

We Answered:

UW.

going to the better school will pay for itself several times over, especially when it comes to looking at graduate schools.

Dan Said:

Shed some light on my college decision? NYU, Macaulay Honors, UW Mad?

We Answered:

The bad news is that the magazine industry is dying--the victim of the internet.

NYU is ridiculously expensive and it is not worth going into debt to go there.

If you want to be in NYC, go to Hunter as it is a general college whereas Baruch is very business-oriented. As you say, Brooklyn's lower standing does not make it a good choice.

UW is best if you are willing to go elsewhere than New York.

Ricky Said:

Can I get into Cornell, Brown or Boston College? (Transferring)?

We Answered:

If you are serious about Cornell and Brown, retake the SATs, a 1900 is too low, aim for a 2100 or above. A 3.6 is on the low end but a good SAT score may work to your advantage.

Bosoton College has a 9 percent acceptance rate for transfers.

Wilma Said:

Should I take the GRE (Graduate Record Examination)?

We Answered:

It is worth pursuing if you are truly passionate about Creative Arts and see it as your career. Graduate school is expensive so when you decide to go it is something that you truly have to be invested in whole heartedly. Visit the schools you want to apply to, if you can't visit all, visit the ones you are seriously considering. Talk to students, get their opinions on the program, check the courses that are offered and make sure there is a variety. All graduate school programs require the GRE. Study hard for the exam and score as high as you possibly can b/c you can get scholarships and grants for scoring high. IF you can, take a preparation course. Best of luck to you!

Chances and FA for GWU?

We Answered:

Looking good - your ACT score is critical, though.

Once it comes in, about the end of June, go to one of the online services and see how you stack up.
George Washington U comparison is found at:

Also find a number of other schools that are likely to accept you so you have some choices when the skinny and fat envelopes start arriving. Good search services are at collegeboard.com and also at princetonreview.com Make sure that you apply to at least three and that at least one of them is your state school.

Then just run the numbers and go to whichever gives you the best deal and leaves you with the least debt.
