UVa is certainly more Liberal Arts oriented than Va Tech.
If you can afford it and have high enough academic credentials you might want to consider applying to UNC Chapel Hill. Their journalism and creative writing programs are considered the best in the country. They also have a fine music department.

I would try out two AP classes next year and see how well you do during the year and on the test. AP classes are definetly much harder than regular classes becuase most of your grade will ride on only a few tests and essays. dont overload on AP's because colleges would rather have a student with good grades in a normal class than crappy grades in an AP class. also keep up the extracurricular activities (they help ALOT)

I don't think there are any recent rankings of journalism programs, but the list at the attached link might give you some suggestions about places to investigate further.
See the occupational outlook site for some information about employment as a news analyst or other type of journalist.

GPA wise you're good but you should really join at least 1 after school club or activity to be sure that you'll get in...That and a good sat/act score.
