Susan Said:

What are my chances of getting into the University of Michigan?

We Answered:

Do you have a 3.54 or a 3.8? A 3.54 isn't good enough, normally, and you need to bring it up-- but you have plenty of time. The 3.8 would be good. The deal with Michigan is that they have more qualified applicants than they have room for, so even if you meet the qualifications you may still not get in. You need to be overqualified to secure your spot. Do some more community service, and I would suggest less stress of sports and more on academic clubs unless you're vying for a sports scholarship. The original "optimal UM student" was the athlete and the scholar, but they're going to pay more attention to your academics.

Hope to see you there. :)

Deborah Said:

what's the difference between university of michigan and indiana university?

We Answered:

There both respectable (regardless of what others say), but UofM is much more respectable. It will, however, cost you a great deal more (its like 35,000 in state to go there, like 40,000 a year our of state). Uofm- you can get anything you want, its bigger- so painting is fine. IU isnt much different there though, so its a personal call- what do you like better? Go and visit each and see what you feel is your best fit- even if a school is excellent etc etc- that makes little difference if you hate it there!

You have a good chance. I would bump the GPA a little more, but I have a friend who was like you and got in this year.

What do you think my chances are of getting into the University of Michigan?

We Answered:

Unless you do horribly on the SAT or ACT, I don't think you should have any problem getting into Michigan. Your GPA is solid and you have impressive extracurricular accomplishments. You may even have a shot at getting into an ivy league.

Do I have a good chance of getting into Michigan State University?

We Answered:

Since you still have over a 3.0 GPA, you are taking several AP classes, and have many extra curricular activities, then I'd say you are good to go!

Your ACT score looks fine, I don't think it would make that much of a difference getting a 27 or 28. As long as you keep it at a 3.0, then you are golden.

What they look for is all your activities outside of school and how well you do in school at the same time. You are still doing good with all your activities and they can see you aren't slacking by taking easy classes.

I think MSU is a great school to go to (MSU alumni). Good luck!
