It's always fun seeing how other people study English. People who study it as a foreign language study it differently than we did in elementary school. It's just interesting. :)

Edit: Since all of the sentences seem to be from a biography, I feel like all of them are in the past simple form. I'm sure a couple of them could be written with the present simple form if you imagined they weren't from a biography (like #2, #3, and #9).

Which university should I go to out of these two options...?

We Answered:

definitely york, everyones heard of it and it does lots of solid academic subjects so its looks better to employers. plus its not in the middle of nowhere and its a nicer campus.

University Suggestions?

We Answered:

Hello
As geographical location is important for you, check out how many of your possible single or combined subject options are available in accessible locations. Then to narrow down possible universities, try other criteria such as entry requirements, research ratings for the university and faculty, graduate employment options or opportunities for scholarships or other funding support, for example. Select any university of interest for this detailed information - if you still have any queries, contact the university admissions office for clarification.

Attendance at some open days may then be useful to meet staff and students and check out facilities at each university. If this isn’t possible, contact the faculty for course details, the careers service for information on employment pathways for graduates of specific courses or the Students Union about facilities and student life in general.

To narrow down course choices, check out the Prospects graduate employment website for information on jobs relevant to each subject; see http://www.prospects.ac.uk/links/signpos… - choose the subject from the ‘a - z’ for a list of job options either directly related to your degree or where your degree would be useful.

Once you narrow down the possible course options, try http://www.unistats.com:80/ to compare these selected courses. You’ll need to register for this site but will then be able to submit the course and university details for comparison.

You may also wish to have a look at the Arts and Humanities courses and qualifications available through supported open learning with The Open University; see http://www.open.ac.uk/ and http://www.open.ac.uk/you/. Remember that you can apply to The Open University alongside UCAS so this gives you additional options.

I hope this is useful and wish you well in your course choice and future study.

Question about replying to university offers... Your opinion wanted?

We Answered:

I'd recommend you put the one with the higher requirements as your firm, then the lower requirements as your insurance. I'd suggest you put UEA as your firm and York as your insurance. Simply because of the entry requirements. If you get the results for UEA then great! (Surely there must be a reason they're higher?). And if not, you'll still have York.

I'm having a similar-ish problem, I'm hoping to apply to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee, (I'm doing deferred entry for next year). And my 1st 2 choices are Glasgow and Edinburgh, but them 2 and Aberdeen are all AAAAB Scottish highers, and Dundee is AAABB, so I'm thinking Dundee should be insurance. Ahhh confusion lol. (I did get AAAAB in my highers last year but since competition is tough).
