Armando Said:
Where is a good place to submit fiction and poetry writing to be published? We Answered:
Visit Duotrope's digest (http://duotrope.com). Every writer I've known has recommended this site, and I have to agree - I wouldn't know what to do without it. It's a free site cataloging a hundreds of markets for fiction, poetry, and non-fiction of all lengths. It's pretty simple to use, gives you all the stats and info you need, and links directly to the market's website. They have articles and interviews and all sorts of terrifically useful features like submissions trackers and deadline calendars. Seriously, if you want to start sending things out for publication, I cannot recommend this site enough.Felicia Said:
I like to write meditations, thoughts, poetry and children stories. How do I find the right publisher? We Answered:
Um...you pick _one_ story or novel that you have written, and research into finding a publisher or agent who handles that type of work. You seem to think that what you need is a publisher who will want to publish everything you've written across multiple genres. That's extremely unlikely to happen. As a new writer you'll need to sell each piece that you've written individually. It's only the very top authors and celebrities who can effectively get anything published just because it has their name on it.Stephen Said:
In writing a children's poetry book, how critical are illustrations? We Answered:
Early gradeschool kids are hardly likely to have an interest in "zen for the future" poetry. I can only see extremely pretentious parents purchasing such a book, and I imagine they don't care whether or not their child is entertained by illustrations. If you want the kids to be happy, throw in some pictures.
