If you are seeking a second degree and not adding a major/minor to an existing degree, you are aid eligible, but only for federal student loans...and that only if you have remaining aggregate loan eligibility as an undergraduate. You should file your 07/08 FAFSA and contact the school you plan to attend.

My own bias is against online schools. They are usually much more expensive and have trouble with their financial aid offices and transfer of credits should you choose to go elsewhere. However, online programs that are attached to real brick and mortar schools should be fine. Be sure to check out the accreditation and ask about the graduation rates.

maybe i should just mind my own business but i don't like online universites. you might as well just practice on your own and take the initiative to teach yourself. especially to be a novelist which isn't a job and doesn't require a degree to do. online universities don't provide any more interaction than you could get buying a 30$ writing book that has exercises and theories. you can also read many online journals and articles discussing the art of writing. if you sat down with a teacher who was going to train or teach you and get an english degree from a reputable school then i'm not 100% on it but i think it's better. the online school to me doesn't seem worth it.

I think you are caught in "no mans" land. Having served as an officer in the Army I saw this all the time. Spouses having to move, leaving a job you love and thinking about the next career move. I don't think you need any more education for the job or work your looking for. Having a degree from UM, St. Louis seems to be enough for what you are trying to do. Also certificates are really not that important. Your experience will matter more.

Creating flyers, brochures doesn't require a masters degree. What I suggest that is better is to tailor your resume to fit with a specific job you are looking for and going and applying for that position.

For the most part if you want to get a degree in public relations/marketing you need to get an MA from a school of communications. Most universities have them and many have on line programs. DO not go to a business school to do this. Some may try to get you to go business but that is mostly for people who want to do business oriented marketing as sales. Communications is where you want to be. I have listed a few schools in the south and one in New England that might be able to direct you to on-line programs (see also National University).

The trouble with writing resources is that what helps one person doesn't necessarily resonate with someone else. I'd recommend starting with your favorite authors and seeing if they've written any advice for beginners. (And if they haven't, you can always write to them directly and ask for tips.)

What's going to be most helpful in your development, though - and the biggest benefit of getting a masters', apart from the ability to teach - is just writing and getting feedback from others. See if there are any writing groups in your area that are looking for new members (or try and get one together), bang out some drafts, and go from there.

It's a tricky situation. Ghost-writing is not uncommon and on it's own I wouldn't have a problem with doing it, especially if there's good money involved.
However, I do see where you're coming from. So you are to write about the abuse that "you" suffered in your life even though you haven't at all?

It would make me a little uncomfortable, but it would depend on how much I needed the money. You'll have to just decide how you feel yourself.
