I don't know how many of these are good I can't afford all of them, but I know they are there.

Several colleges and junior colleges have writing courses on line. If there is a Junior college nearby most have creative writing as continuing education or allow anyone to take any classes they want to.

writers digest has several courses. Their site is www.writersdigest.com

Local libraries have writing groups that will help critique. How much help they are varies widely by the level of leadership.

Creative writing classes are one of those things you can find just about anywhere. Start with your local community college or branch of your state's university system--they often have writing classes in the evenings and geared toward adults.

There are tons of online classes, as well, but the ones I've tried haven't worked out very well for me. I miss the face to face interaction with the teacher and other students, which is really important with writing.

For something less formal, you might look around at your local libraries or bookstores and see if they know of any writers groups that meet regularly. These are groups where you take something you've written, and the other members of the group critique it for you. You might need to shop around a bit to find one that fits you the best. And, of course, you have to have something already written and be willing to accept criticism.

Usually universities will accept transfer credits, but if they are coming from out of state or online classes, they may not. The best way to find out is to call or email someone in the admissions offices of the colleges/universities you are interested in transferring credit to. Tell them what courses you are taking and where you are taking the course and they will be able to tell you if they will transfer. Oh, and for online classes, pay extra attention to deadlines because it is easy to get behind in a class that has a flexible schedule/structure. Good luck!

I would question whether they will recognize your online courses, particularly the calculus course (which is probably essential for getting into MIT). That's something you should inquire about before signing up for your senior year classes. Otherwise, you look like an outstanding candidate for MIT or any other school. Applying via early admission would also boost your chances.
