College on-line courses–good or bad?

We Answered:

I have personally taken an online class, but I imagine it would be all about how you learn. If you think you could learn without a teacher and just a computer and a book then go for it, it wouldl be a lot more convienent . But if you think you would have a hard time I wouldnt risk failing and wasting my time and money, good luck.

Writing Workshops: Do you know a place on the net where I can develop my writing skills?

We Answered:

There are so many free online workshops for writers. It depends on what you write too.

First, you can go to yahoo group and type in what you like: http://groups.yahoo.com/

When I put “beginning writers” this is what I got:

I recommend writers groups in my blog:

For instance: JoAnn Ross Writers Group

This writers group is designed to help develop and hone writing skills. Since we're writing with publication in mind, members are encouraged to discuss industry issues, share news of contests entered, contests won, manuscript submissions, rejections and - yay!-sales and fun reviews.

From time to time I'll be giving workshops onvarious topics, then we can discuss how they apply to members' ownworks in progress, or books read. It'll be very loosely structuredto keep it user- friendly and hopefully encourage participation.
