Ronnie Said:

Ideas on kids story writing??

We Answered:

sit with him and encourage him to develop his creative thinking with genle hints from you!!!!!!!

ask him about his main character - get him to close his eyes and tell you as much about it as he can. what does it smell like? look like? feel like? sound like?

if he says angry, encourage him to develop a similie - as angry as a what..........?????
smells nasty - what do you mean nasty, tell me something it smells like, what do you feel when you smell him......does the smell of him make you feel terrified or brave?

do this for all his characters, then get him to think about the setting - if it is a mountain, get him to think about what sounds he might hear - eagles screeching, wind rushing round him, what can he see - down into a valley, trees and shrubery.
describe the trees - green!!!! what shade of green, how are the trees moving, and hopefully he will come up with good adjectives and adverbs to describe the trees. e.g. 'the deep green leaves, which twinkled at the ends of the branches, swayed gently in the breeze on the mountain top'

i hope that helps, just make it a gradual process for him and more of a fun exercise. you could get him to draw a picture of the setting a write describing words on that - developing his writing skills but in a different way.

Jessica Said:

I am writing a story about this family with a lot of kids. I need ideas of what could happen next.?

We Answered:

Hey there, Jonasluvr!

Conflict is key if you want your reader to keep turning the pages and not throw the book across the room in frustration and boredom.

Conflict between the children of the two families has been done to death, so please avoid that! Please! I'm begging you!

You could have a conflict between two of the girls, one from each family. Maybe one is a cheerleader and the other a tomboy and they hate each other long before their parents marry.

Or the family could travel to some exotic land and get in some big trouble. Each family might have their own idea on how to solve the problem, causing conflict.

Maybe one family has a handicapped child and the other kids are cold-hearted towards him - wow, that would be a big ol' conflict!

Someone else suggested that a boy from one family and a girl from the other be a couple. Make it that they were secretly dating long before their parents married, and now the dad wants to adopt the mom's kids as his own. That makes for a very sticky situation! (But you should probably be older than you are to tackle that one - or ask your mom for help - it could be a great challenge for you!)

Conflict, conflict, conflict. That's a big part of it. There's loads more, but it's a good place to start.

Ideas for writing kids-teen books?

We Answered:

Great writers are not born, they are made! Geez people you shouldn't be answering questions if your not answering them in a positive manor.

And real writer's have so many ideas bouncing around in their heads that there is no way that they can write all of them. So it's better to share these undeveloped ideas with other writers so that the story gets out there. WRITING ISN'T ABOUT MAKING MONEY, IT'S ABOUT TELLING A STORY. Trust me, I know this, I don't write to make money, I write because it's something I love to do.

So now that I've ranted about inappropriate answers I will give you some ideas. I write YA novels, my debut novel comes out in June. Doing fantasy is always a good idea, there is always fans for fantasy novels, involve elves or fairies, something of that nature. Vampires are hot right now, there's a huge audience for them. There's always the option of high school/middle school drama. There's a whole bucketload of novel subjects that can be worked with for young adults/teens.

If you would like to discuss ideas with me you can contact me through my profile. I would love to help out a fellow young writer.

Just remember, bottom line: great authors are not born, they are made.
