to get into med school you need a lot of prereq that are science based. so if you major in bio, you will most likely get the classes that you need for med school. maybe you can minor in writing?? well if they offer it..

Schools like JH can afford to be extremely selective due to high volume of qualified applicants. Take it from someone who knows the harsh reality of these things haha.
