HSC subjects. advice needed?

We Answered:

I graduated last year and I watched so many people make the mistake of choosing these subjects only because they thought that it would get them a better atar. Your teachers are not lying when they say that you should choose your subjects based on what you enjoy, not what you think you SHOULD study or based on scaling and all that.

"Fairly well" will NOT get you 90-95. Trust me on that. Unless you are a genius, it's impossible.

If you hate english, don't do advanced or extention. If you don't want to do anything mathematical, don't choose 2-unit. More than half of the class in 2-unit last year went down to general because they just weren't dedicated to the course.

Basically, if you choose subjects that you don't want to do, you will regret it and you will not get 90-95 on your atar.

And even if you can't get over 90 with an extension subject, you're result would suffer more if you tried to force your way through the course. It isn't worth it, however you can always try it and drop it if it's too much.

I hope this helps. Way too many people stressed out last year because they made those mistakes.

All the best with your subject selection and your HSC

creative people please help.?

How did you go with your story? did you end up writing a memoir, speech or a story about a "curious traveler"? were you able to adapt/tweak your story idea to fit the criteria, or did you have to start over?

HSC- Tips for creative writing?

We Answered:

Try to make your stories have a twist... then it'll be really fun to read. All your ideas are fine - it doesn't matter if they're cliche because as far as I'm concerned, the whole 'belonging' thing is the biggest cliche ever. If you pull your ideas off well, you will be fine.

Try to make your story as flexible as possible and cover as many things about belonging as possible in that story so you can apply it to the different pictures/quotes they give you.

Um, also, they may not ask for a story. In the past they have asked for newspaper articles, letters, etc.

Anyway I think your ideas are fine. As long as you cover belonging, it's all in the way you construct your creative piece. Good luck for english on friday!

ETC.
I do business studies too! Infact right now i'm just looking at the 2009 PAST HSC EXAM!
LOOK DUDE, GOOD LUCK OKAY? Just try your freaking hardest, if you have been paying attention in class then you're going to obviously get more than 10 marks, AREN'T YOU?
