Most desired Extra Curriculars for Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton etc.?

We Answered:

Publishing a best-selling novel, starring in a major Hollywood movie, being the kid of a president, winning the Intel Talent Search, publishing original scientific research (about half the kids who get into CalTech each year have done that), starting a successful business, and so on.

Preparation for Harvard?

We Answered:

Write three novels of different genres. Ask a literary agent to look at them (not your Mum) and evaluate them. If one shows potential, ditch Harvard and start writing.

Is this an okay SAT score for Harvard?

We Answered:

It is probably high enough, if you have solid grades and activities. However, top schools are picky. Also, you shouldn't be able to get a 722-- the numbers for the SAT are grouped by 10s. Do you mean 720?

It wouldn't hurt you to study for the math and retake it. If you do, here is a step-by-step guide on how to boost your score: http://www.ehow.com/how_5396079_improve-…

Do you have to go to a prestigious university to later become a professor?

We Answered:

Your undergrad degree is not so important, but you'll have to get a PhD at a better school than the one you at which you want to teach. Get top grades and work towards a student teaching deal to help pay for a bettr University after you get your B.A.

The school doesn't have to be Ivy League, but it has to be recognized for excellence in the depratment you want to pursue.

Please!! Can I Get Into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton?

We Answered:

You are in the same boat as me (as in becoming a doctor), but I am applying for college three years later.
It's possible, but your chances are slim. Many other applicants that apply to Ivy League schools have almost the same academic credentials like you have. Have some backup schools, in case that you don't get into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. Think about other universities that are excellent, but have lower tuitions (e.g. Rice University).
I would say that the Ivy League University that has the liveliest student atmosphere is Dartmouth College. Even though it is the smallest Ivy League school, there are tons of activities that you can do there. You can ski, swim, and join in many different clubs. It is also known as the #1 for Undergraduate Teaching. It is really safe, and I think some people do actually patrol around the school. It also has its own medical program (in case if you are interested), and you get to talk to the professors in person. Personally, I just don't like to apply to universities that has a huge student pool.
Don't apply to all Ivy League schools because you may not get into all of them. About half of your applied universities should by Ivy League ones, and the other half should not (but are still excellent). This lessens your worries (financially), and you may even receive more scholarships (if you get accepted in a non-Ivy League school)!

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Can I Get Into Harvard or Yale?

We Answered:

I hope this will be helpful! I remember three years ago I was in your situation and now I'm almost a graduate and heading to Law school either Yale, Colombia, UPENN or Abroad not sure yet.

When I spoke with the head of the UPENN graduate program she told me that the Ivy League schools after looking at grades see what makes this student unique because they want YOU too add to the prestige of the school. It seems like you have a great GPA and your extracurricular activities are a HUGE plus. I would just tell you to go visit all the IVYS and choose which one is best for you. While there, MAKE FRIENDS with the admission's office heads as it will help you chances in getting accepted. Also make sure to be calm and yourself in the interviews.

Out of all the Ivy League schools I would suggest Yale, UPENN, Colombia, and Cornell based on the overall education, staff, and social setting. What do you plan to major in? If you need more assistance, I would be glad to help.
Best of Luck and I'm sure you will get in!
