Creative writing - form and structure problems? We Answered:
It sounds like you have the hard part taken care of. That is, you have tons of material. And you're writing regularly. Great! One idea that comes to mind is to "act" like a different author. For instance, imagine that you have stumbled upon a mysterious diary in a drawer (yours, in reality) and give yourself complete permission to write about what you find from a different perspective, a different personality. Does this make sense? Like imagine that you are a mystery writer, or a writer from whatever kind of genre you are interested in and just write as if you are in somebody else's shoes. If you still have trouble, time yourself, say for 15 minutes or however long. Tell yourself that you are going to rewrite a diary entry as if you are a different person. This is all about how great characters and points of view are formed...we write from the perspective of the characters we "meet" whether or not we write in third or first person. Have fun!Mildred Said:

How can I get myself back into writing again? We Answered:
First, why don't you want to write anymore? If you can identify what made you unable to write or not want to write, then that's the first step to being able to write again. Is it stress over college admissions? (If so, that might be the makings of another question!)Next, just start writing. Get yourself a notebook (or cozy up with your computer if that's how you write) and start writing about whatever comes to mind. Getting words on paper is the first step--even if those words are absolute crap! At least it gets you started.
I don't think this break in your writing will adversely affect your skill. You might be a little rusty at the beginning, but that will pass.
Good luck!

How do you learn to evoke emotion in creative writing? We Answered:
Use visceral wording. Do not say "slick-surfaced," say "smooth, sinuous, and slimy."Also, keep the surprises to the end. Don't start a piece with the "thesis" toward the beginning.
Those are the main differences in construction between creative writing and reporting.
