Fiction Writing Classes
Teresa Said:
Are there any writing classes in Boston? We Answered:
Try looking at the community colleges (Bunker Hill, Roxbury, etc). Most colleges offer summer lessons, that are either for the whole or part of the summer, and are more relaxed classroom setting. In addition to that I know that on the Red Line there are zillions of adds for writing courses...but since I never needed them I honestly don't remember the name. You're best bet is for a college, you don't need to be an enrolled student if you only want one or two classes and summer is for all ages too.Nicholas Said:
Any suggestions on changing writing genre's from poetry to fiction? We Answered:
Poems can be tricky. I suggest you read Whitman or Yeats. Find the "image" they draw, then build your own story about it. Or you can write the story about what the author of the poem was going through when he wrote the poem.Stacy Said:

Peer-editing dilemma in fiction-writing class: please help?We Answered:
Please don't compromise your writing by changing your ending because your peer editor thinks you should! But you said that was her "main" suggestion, and that you disagree with "almost" everything she said. The implication is that there might be one or two things that you can accept in her criticism. Perhaps you can make a point of incorporating these less heinous suggestions into your story. That way, you show respect for her opinion, give her something positive to say in her summary, and maintain your own integrity. If you can't find anything in her criticism that you feel you can use, then ignore it. Your professor seems to understand you and your story; he or she should understand why you don't accept the peer editor's suggestions.
