A good idea is when you are imagining the scenery and characters picture yourself - use your senses to describe the vision such as what did the character see, How did the character feel, What did the character taste, etc. For example during the car crash did she taste blood in her mouth, feel a dizzying rush as she came to, hear the sound of metal crashing - things like that. You may go through the Dictionaries and can find out several impressive sounding words, which definitely your marker say 'Wow". But, it does not mean that you are likely to get scores as majority of the people are acquainted with using words which are simple and easy to understand.

Just out of curiosity, what were your previous ideas and why did the teacher reject them?

My idea is to think about your life and times where you or someone you know had a dilemma and had a choice to make. Use real life experiences as inspiration. Don't write exactly what happened, since I'm guessing it has to be fiction... but there's a quote which says "write what you know." Use the world that you know as your inspiration.

An example for me is that I had to come up with a screenplay idea for my honors thesis (which I'm in the process of writing). Last summer I spent a lot of time with family, and that was the inspiration for my script. It's about a family - entirely fictional, the characters and their issues, but its creation was inspired by my family.

If you divide 2000 by 60 you will see that in a minute you would need to be able to write 33.33 words a minute. Question, are you able to do that? Naturally, if you have to create the words, then that would increase the time you need to complete your 2000 word essay.
