yeap. i have a MA in it. it's difficult to explain, but the first technique ever is write a lot. for example 10 pages / day. then correct loudly everything.
also, it is better if you try a frame at first, for example write a fairy-tale, a sonnet or just your diary.
plus, get some friends who would like to hear you reading. feed-back it's very important at the beginning.

Be descriptive. Use lots of adjectives and specific nouns to put the reader into the setting of your writing. When writing dialogue, write it as the speaker would speak, not necessarily proper English. Include characters' insights and motivations.
