Also, the child's understanding of; exposure to and use of basic language can affect their ability to write cohesively.

Creative writing plays an important part in school, because it can show the interest(s) of the child; it's level of language use and comprehension and what things/people are influencing the child.
In later life, creative writing is recommended by some doctors, as a way for adults to relax.
