Creative Writing Kids

Amy Said:

creative writing?

We Answered:

I'm not a teacher but I love creative writing. Why not see how they could create a "New World" and ask them to set up rulers or a counsel/government to run the different tribes or nations. Have them create people in this world and create customs, a language, a religion for each different tribe/nation/country. What are the types of people? Do they possess magic? Are they evil or good. Do they have technology such as us now or do they still live in ancient times? What kind of creatures inhabit this world? What is the topography of this world?
Ask them to bring it to life so to speak. Get into the fibers of their own creations and see how they could give an interesting look into their own creation.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Martin Said:

I'm writing a book where the kids have special powers, do you have any ideas of new and creative ones?

We Answered:

There's a lot of different forms of magic/superpowers:
For one, there is elemental magic, which is the power over earth, wind, fire, and water:
*** Earth can move bolders, talk to and control plants, etc.
***Wind can hear voices carried by the wind (or see images of the things winds have passed over), or create powerful winds that move/lift things, walk on air, etc.
***Fire can create fire, control fire, make heat
***Water can find water, create water, control water, walk on water, etc.
There is healing magic, the power to heal the body and soul.
There is all purpose magic, that can do a combination of things (multiple of the specific skills listed below).
The are specific skills, of which people can posess one or more then one. These include:
***Mind Reading
***Mind Controlling or mentally communicating with others, including the ability to overload another's mind causing pain, memory loss, change, or enhancement, lack of consciousness, vegetative state or death after having created a psionic link into that person's mind.
***Reading emotions
***Controlling emotions
***Rapid Learning
***Psychometry, or Knowing something about an item's history (or the owner's history) by touching it, or the a1bility to relate details about the past or future condition of an object, person or location, usually by being in close contact with it.
***Seeing underwater
***Seeing in the dark
***The ability to heal themselves or others (often at an accelerated pace)
***Breathing underwater
***The ability to jump or bounce really high
***The ability to become "unnoticable" This is in many ways better then being invisible, though the concept is similar. Invisible people can't be seen when looked at. Unnoticable people cause people's eyes to slide right over them so they aren't seen, even though they are visible. The advantage is that unnoticble people don't leave footprints in mud or snow, and they are silent, whereas invisible people can give themselves away through footprints or loud noises.
***Partial or full Shapeshifting or the power to transfigure themselves and other people/things
***Talking to animals
***The ability to fly, or the ability to lift off the ground, to ride air currents or to fly self-propelled through the air.
***Teleportation
***Being able to build anything (like forge)
***Super Flexibility (like elastagirl from the incredibles) or the ability to stretch, deform, expand or contract one's body into any form they can imagine.
***The ability to turn partially or completely into a liquid.
***Ability to draw energy from surroundings (or themselves) and project it at enemies
***Telekinesis or the ability to control and manipulate inanimate objects
***Color Changing, the ability to change the colors of things around you to confuse people or create camoflague for yourself
***Scrying, or knowing/seeing the future or flashes of the past.
***Ability to generate acid, poison, gas, or some lethal or harmful substance
***Power derived through objects: a magic sword, magic jewel, magic jewelry, seven league boots, magic armor, magic wand, etc.
***Slipperiness: There are quite a number of heroes and villains whose superpower is to be hard to hold onto or “nearly frictionless
***Ability to duplicate themselves or create the illusion of duplication
***Here's a silly one: the the power to control your hair as an extra limb, like medusa used her snake hair to attack people
***The ability to sense lies, danger, poison, trechary, fear, alterior motives, etc.
***Echolocation, or the ability to determine location of items in the environment by use of reflected sound waves, whether generated by the character or ambient sound. Also known as sonar or radar sense.
***Invunerability, or the ability to not be hurt by flesh wounds, or illness, or to be immune to one or more forms of physical damage.
***Adaptation, which can be temporary or permanent
***Explosion and Regeneration (the ability to explode and then reform)
***Superhuman reflexes or endurance
***Superhuman Senses, or the ability to see, smell, taste, feel and/or hear more than a normal human.
***Night or Xray or Laser or Telescopic Vision
***Tracking-the ability to track something or someone successfully.
***The ability to petrify (freeze) or free someone who has been petrified
***Ability to create or manipulate darkness, often by mentally accessing a dimension of dark energy OR Ability to control, generate or absorb photons (particles of light).
***Ability to disintegrate matter through touch or through beams

As you can see there are many different types of power, some just variations of the same idea. Good luck with your book!
