Yvonne Said:

Shelly Said:

What is my closest writters group here in LA? Creative writing group?

We Answered:

You're right, there are a ton!!!

I would suggest looking on Craigslist, or even posting your own message.

The LA Times book festival always has a bunch of booths from different writing groups, but that's not until April.

Otherwise it's all about networking. Find one through friends, or start your own!

More thoughts:
I think there is a Border's by the Arclight (not far from you), you could ask there.

Also, if and when you decide to meet with managers, agents, etc, talk to the assistants and interns. Chances are they read your work first and more in depth, and most of them are aspiring writers or agents.

Juanita Said:

Can anybody help me find a creative writing group?

We Answered:

I am a bit biased on this one. A few friends and I went looking for good online writing groups and couldn't find any that meet our needs so we decided to start one. It is at http://www.reviewfuse.com . Some others that we found in our research were at

http://www.critiquecircle.com (free)
http://www.writing.com (fee, don't remember how much)
http://www.fanstory.com (fee, I think it is only around 3 dollars per month but you have to pay for a full year)
Yahoo groups http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/1600019987 has numerous smaller focused writing groups

If you try out http://www.reviewfuse.com let me know how it goes, we are always looking to improve it.
