Creative Writing Group

Jack Said:

Who would be interested in joining a creative writing group?

We Answered:

Sign me up; the worst that could happen is that I get chunked out

What are some good reasons for starting a creative writing/journaling group?

We Answered:

Forming a writing group is an excellent way to keep yourself on track. It will encourage everyone to find time to write, too. That's the best part.

Sharing items in a writing group can be tricky because you don't want any one person dominating the group. You'll have to set up some sort of schedule in order to ensure that everyone gets feedback. You'll also have to listen to honest criticism and be prepared to have your works praised when they shouldn't be and attacked out of envy. It happens.

If you just want to associate with other writers and possibly form ties with them, check out www.burryman.com. There are some free chats there and everything is geared to the writers.

College Creative Writing Group?

We Answered:

I do think that wanting to go into school to help younger children with their skills may be a little too ambitious. I don't see teachers allowing students to teach....not until you're over 18. If you want to get involved in the community then maybe you could give poetry or short story readings at old people's homes or other similar places.
