Charlene Said:

Running a creative writing course?

We Answered:

Go for it. In the US I'd write up the course and take it to Continuing Educ. depts. of community colleges. If you have similar, that would be a place to start.

What do you do to become an author in the Uk?

There's no need for qualifacations when becoming an author. Or a specific age. Don't wait until you leave school to start writing. Start now In your free time and carry on with your school work. Just get a job when you leave school. I'm 16 and still inschool and I'm writing a novel. 16,000 words so far. And I live in the uk. Just start now and it coulsbe finished in a few months

Tracy Said:

What is a Creative Writing Uni course like? (UK people!!)?

We Answered:

I did a creative writing short course (3months) prior to my masters degree. There is nothing serious subject matter except it trains you to observe things and be aware of your senses.First day my tutor asked me to sit and listen to the silence for about a half an hour and then to write short sentences about what I heard, taste & feel. It opens up a whole new concept Then I was promoted to take short walks around campus and nearby town and write short essays to promote my reporting skills. Then imagine about distance lands and incident happening there, Look at a photograph and create a feature or story around that. It was really interesting as Diane (my tutor) made it a really interesting experience out of it.But It is advisable to do a combine course with English Lit. as would give an insight about writing and a good knowledge and exposure to literature makes you a higher being.

Bill Said:

Hi could you tell me about the job prospects of Creative Writing course?

We Answered:

You have identified one of the hardest areas to break into, considering the present job climate and the impact of the recession on publishers. Creative writing does not make you a good editor, as the two jobs are entirely different. One thing that will help you is a course in copy-editing, which I believe you can do on-line. The world, including the UK, is deluged with media studies graduates.
