How do I get my busy boyfriend to have fun again?

We Answered:

You can't force someone to do the things you want him to do. It sounds like "Mr. Romance" was just a facade that he used to get you to live with him in the first place. My ex-husband was like you describe before we got married, and the day we married, it was like he turned into a different man.

Your only solution is to tell him that you need him to see that this spending true quality time with him is a priority and that unless you two can pick at least one or two evenings a week to do something fun (like you said, nothing expensive), you are going to have to end the relationship.

If he doesn't like the option, make good on your word and leave.

He sounds like a decent guy, but maybe his age is working against him. He sounds exhausted.

He should already have most of his debt paid off by this age, so unless you contributed to that debt, you shouldn't have to suffer if he tries to make you feel guilty for wanting his time and the attention he first gave you when he was courting you.

Writers help... Has this happened to you?

We Answered:

Reading a lot of books is great, but only that alone won't help you much.
You can look at paintings all you want but it takes hard work and lots of practice to be able to paint very well. Same goes for playing music, dancing and writing.

I suggest you search the web for writing exercises I know that there are a lot of sites who offer them for free. Just try some. It doesn't matter if they don't seem right or even downright suck (In your personal opinion of course). You don't have to show them to anyone. Just be sure to keep them (you can look back later to see how you've improved).

Other than this I suggest free-writing. Just buy a nice note book and write in it for at least 10 minutes every day. You can write anything you want. from silly ideas such as talking and dancing shoes to your feelings or what happened that day. You can write anything you want. You can even write "I hate free-writing it's stupid." and go from there. or write "I really don't know what to write right now." and go from there.
You can doodle and write down sentences, try and create characters and draw them or describe them and try and think of something that could happen to them.
It's a really fun and good exercises. It helps your writing and stimulates your creativity.

And by the way, never try to imitate your favorite writers with their style. Just write freely (that's probably why it felt so forced to you) and you'll find your own personal style. Every writer has their own voice which leaks through the pages of a book. If you imitate their writing you won't be able to imitate their voice and you won't use your own either so it will probably get a bit boring.

Lastly I'd like to recommend a book to you:
"Writing Magic" by Gail Carson Levine

It's a fun book that reads almost like a novel. It is full with fun and help full little exercises at the end of each chapter and I think it can really help a beginning writer. I wish I'd had it when I first started ^^" You don't really need it to become a good writer though. I figured out everything it says by myself--through practice!

If you have any questions please mail me at any time.
Have fun writing!

Here are some sites to help you with your writing:

http://www.meredithsuewillis.com/writing…
It has a lot of writing exercises on it and a few tips as well. I would just skim through the exercises and choose some that are fun or incredibly hard (So it will be a very good practice.)
They also have Q&A and a lot of articles.

A really cool site is http://cbiclubhouse.com especially if you want to write children stories but it costs about $ 4 a month to access the site and it’s newsletter. It’s full of information though so you might want to consider trying it for a month.
On www.about.com you can also find a lot of tips and information about writing.

http://www.creativewritingprompts.com/# also has a lot of fun tips and exercises. You get a site with all kinds of digits and if you go over one it will give you a small exercise.

You may want to check out this article as well as well as the site:

I want to be a writer, but I'm not sure how?

We Answered:

Yay for wanting to be a writer! I never thought I could write, but I started writing a story on fictionpress, and I never thought I would continue it. But I got at least 7 reviews and people wanted me to continue, so just keep on writing. Some tips:

Try writing on a computer. It shows you your work better, so you can edit as you write and pick out the weak sentences. If not, try writing on normal paper, but think before you write a sentence. Don't be afraid to cross out!

Read some good books. I'm just starting to write a story in 3rd person, and it's really hard, so i reread some of my favorite books in 3rd person like Harry potter and Eragon, and it helped.

Music helps to give ideas and block out all other noises. I would suggest making a writing playlist.

Don't do cliche! No one wants to read another book about a girl who likes a guy who doesn't like her back, so she does some crazy thing and learns a lesson. If you add a conflict into the story, like a game or a fantasy thing, it would captivate your readers better.

I would suggest fictionpress.net to write your story. This is my site profile:

And good luck!
