How about a story about a blind person who has never had sight and never left his home by himself before.
Then one day something makes him go outside and you can write about the things he heard or smelt but couldn't see. That way things will seem a lot different to him and it will be like he was on an adventure when really he was just walking through a normal suburban town.
Make sure you tell the readers what it was he was really hearing or smelling throughout the book.
Then you can write about how someone helps him get home and how they become friends and go for walks all the time. You could make the friend a woman and say that they got married later on if that's the kind of thing you like to write about.

The sky seemed to evolve into nothingness as the rolling clouds concealed the moon, blocking out all sources of light. The rain was torrential, crashing over my face and making it difficult to see as I crawled forwards on all fours, trying to stay as low as possible. The occasional deafening crack was always followed by the blinding streak of gold that meant thunder and lightening. I winced and tried to call out, but my efforts were in vain.

well normally you edit things where they are wrong or awkward. if you re read it, that usualy helps, and if you cant find anything it would be a good idea to have someone else read it.
